Checkmate
Anthony George starred as Don Corey and Doug McClure as Jed Sills, his assistant, as private investigators for the San Francisco-based firm Checkmate, a company with the mission of stopping -- or checkmating -- crime before it happened. Sebastian Cabot also starred as Carl Hyatt, a university criminology professor who served as a consultant to the firm.
The series aired for two seasons on NBC from 1960 through 1962.
