The Commissario Guido Brunetti Mysteries

Based on a character created by crime novelist Donna Leon and with exotic Venice as a backdrop, this series of novel adaptations stars Joachim Król (episodes 1 through 4) and Uwe Kockisch (later episodes) as the titular character, a police inspector with a keen mind, razor-sharp wit, and a touch of melancholy. He strives to bring criminals to justice, but experience has taught him that countless things work against that human frailty, corruption, and police incompetence being chief among them. He takes refuge from the job in the company of his loving wife Paola, a university literature professor, and two teenage children, Raffi and Chiara.
