True Blood

True Blood is based on the series of Southern Vampire mysteries by Charlaine Harris. Starring Anna Paquin as telepathic barmaid Sookie Stackhouse, the series debuted on HBO in September 2008.

Sookie is "cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts but is tolerant of vampires who have no brainwave activity. She's particularly attracted to Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, her tolerance of vampires will be put to the test.
